Ruinous & Radiant

Good evening, my lovelies.
Come in, come in. The French Roast is warm, the night is soft, and I promise I’ve hidden the worst of the day under the rug. Sit. Let the quiet settle around us like a velvet cloak.

A message came to me recently from a dear soul named Gwen, asking:

“What is the camaraderie like among the Tempus Militibus?”

Well.
Pull your chair closer to the fire because we are not alone tonight. Mention Midleton whisky once and suddenly Remy, Emile, and Karl materialise like polished ghosts, trying (and failing) to look casual by the sideboard.

They do love a dramatic entrance.

When Immortals Slow Down

The Militibus are not merely vampires, they are the memory of old crossroads and forgotten cathedrals, the echo of history when no one is listening. They’ve lived too long for theatrics alone. Eternity forces reflection.

One mild May night in Montmartre, Remy, Emile, and Karl escaped duty and found themselves basking in that rare thing: leisure. They took their glasses of 130-year-old Midleton (because of course) and spoke not of blood or battle, but of living.

Remy, lounging like poetry in motion, murmured,
“We are here not because we chose survival… but because we are alive. And life is found when we choose to slow.”

Karl considered. Emile snorted. But beneath all their teasing, there was truth:
when you have forever, you must decide how to fill it.

Laughter Beneath the Fangs

As the whisky dwindled, their conversation loosened into laughter… that rare, golden kind. They teased each other like brothers who have bled side by side.

“Remy,” Emile sighed, “I swear you brood for the entire city. Lutetia’s Most Tragic Vampire, ladies and gentlemen.” He held out his hands.

Remy’s smile was slow, ruinous.
“Careful, chère. Even a smile can be a seduction.”

Karl nearly choked on his drink.
Immortals. Terrifying. And yet absolutely human.

The Bond

And that,  that is the heart of the Tempus Militibus:

They tease. They provoke. They push and pull and poke wounds that no longer bleed. But beneath it all is an unspoken vow forged not by time, but by survival.

They are brothers, not born, but made.

Until next time, my loves
keep the candles glowing and the night gentle.

If this made you smile, share it with a night owl; if it ruined you, come back for more.

Anna xoxo
